PODCAST: THE INNOCENTS
Prof. Scahill returned for a fourth time as the special guest on the podcast Random Horror 9 (by the creators of Welcome to Nightvale). This episode, hosts Cecil Baldwin and Jeffrey Cranor rolled WILDCARD and 1960s on the Random Horror 9 dice, and selected 1961's haunted house classic The Innocents.
One of the best adaptations of Henry James's novella The Turn of the Screw, The Innocents follows Deborah Kerr's governess as she attempts to uncover the mystery at Bly Manor, and the ghostly forces that seem to have a hold over Flora and Miles, the children under her care. The film is notable for its meticulously crafted mise-en-scene, its innovative cinematography, and its avant-garde score.
